Largs Yacht Haven, where the SSI is based, is a 20 year development project which now has 670 boat berths, fuel, sail loft, restaurants and bars, chandlery outlets, yacht charter companies and service and repair business.

The SSI benefits directly from the available services for customers at Largs Yacht Haven, but in return brings a large number of customers on site for the established businesses and regional attractions. In particular, the SSI's activities provide direct business for Largs Sailing Club and together in partnership the Club can offer sailing activities to a wide mix of socio-economic groups in the catchment area and cater for a wide age and ability range.
