Set Sail
Objectives
- To increase the number of boat nights in North Ayrshire, by increasing permanent, seasonal and visitor berthing, doubling marina berths and visitor moorings, and marketing the area to provide reasons for sailors to stay longer.
- To double the estimated current revenue from visiting boats from £8.82 million to £17.64 million and doubling marine leisure employment in North Ayrshire from 56 to 112 full time jobs. This will be achieved by providing increased access to shore, encouraging a higher consumer spend and providing business development support to the marine leisure sector.
- To provide marine leisure infrastructure at key locations to attract visiting boats to stay longer and make North Ayrshire one of the easiest areas in the Clyde to step-ashore. This will be achieved through the provision of increased numbers of pontoons and moorings and of onshore facilities.
- To create a world class sailing, competition and events destination, by attracting, hosting and facilitating national and international events and competitions in the area.
- To raise the profile of North Ayrshire as a key sailing destination on the west coast of Scotland, through marketing the area's assets and benefits as a sailing and watersports destination.
